STORY AND PHOTO BY KAREN BOSSICK

Got a pet who needs a blessing?

The annual Blessing of the Animals will be held at noon Sunday, Sept. 30, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Sun Valley.

The Rev Ken Brannon of St. Thomas and the Rev. John Moreland of Light on the Mountains Center for Spiritual Living will lead a short service honoring St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.

Then they will offer special blessings to all animals, whether feathered or four-legged, whether the type that crawl on their bellies or hang from the trees.

Doggie treats and people treats will be served. And Mountain Humane staff and volunteers will bring shelter dogs and cats to be blessed and to mingle with the public.
