The Board Bin, The Toy Store and the City of Ketchum are joining hands to host the second annual Street Party on 4th from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30.
The event will celebrate the Board Bin’s 30th anniversary and the Toy Store’s 40th anniversary. And proceeds will go towards improvements for the Ketchum skate park.
The Board Bin has purchased a bunch of blank decks—long, short, old school and park—to donate to artists who wish to take part in the Art Decko show. The art will be auctioned off in a silent auction during the party.
Those whose boards are voted People’s Choice or whose boards get the highest bids will be awarded prizes.
Last year’s party raised nearly $15,000 from the sale of a hundred boards to help complete the expansion of the Guy Coles Skateboard Park, which is at the corner of Warm Springs and Saddle roads.
“Basically, the event was so fun that we are doing it again to set up a trust fund for future improvements and skateable art for the park,” said Karin Reichow, who owns The Board Bin with Jim Slanetz.
The party will provide live music by the Hurdy Gurdy Girls and the Andrew Sheppard Band. And there will be a Best in Show Dog Show at 4 p.m. with contestants and canines in costumes and prizes from Idahound.
There will be a Massacre on 4th Street dual slalom skateboard race with two skateboarders going head to head in the street at 2:30 p.m. Registration will be from noon to 2 p.m.
And the Toy Store will furnish a Bouncy House for kids, along with a Hula Hoop Contest.
Rickshaw, the Burger Grill and The Hot Water Inn will provide food and drinks.
