One in three women and one in seven men have been victims of some form of physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime, said Tricia Swartling, the CEO of The Advocates.
“And although the Wood River Valley is a wonderful place to live and raise a family, we are not immune to the epidemic of domestic violence,” she added. “Last year The Advocates assisted 554 community members experiencing abuse and offered 5,147 bed nights of safety in shelter and transitional housing.”
Anyone experiencing emotional, physical or sexual abuse should call 208-788-4188 for confidential assistance.
