Check out the bounty of fall colors on Saturday when the Sawtooth Botanical Garden and Idaho Native Plant Society throw a Leaf Peeping Walk.
Jim Rineholt, retired Sawtooth National Recreation Area forester, will lead participants to several hot spots. And he will explain the complex influences that cause leaves to turn color, as well as why they turn the color that they do. He’ll also explore the natural history of native tree species and how they interact with each other.
The free walk will happen rain or shine. Participants should meet to carpool at 8:30 a.m. at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden, four miles south of Ketchum. The walk will conclude about 1 p.m.
