Foodies, rejoice!

There’s a new game in town, and it benefits the Trailing of the Sheep Festival, which gets underway this week.

Taste & Craft—a beer, wine and spirits tasting event—has relocated from Boise to Ketchum, and it will stage its Sun Valley debut on Thursday, Oct. 11, at Ketchum’s Limelight Hotel.

The event will feature curated food, beer, wine and spirits samples from the Wood River Valley, Idaho, the Pacific Northwest and the West Coast.

There will be two waves:

Premier ticket holders will be admitted from 4 to 6:30 p.m. They will get a complimentary tasting glass and an opportunity to sample unique food and beverage products while meeting the vendors who will be set up in the conference room, in the hallway and on the patio, weather permitting.

They also will get a gift bag featuring Idaho-centric products.

General admission ticket holders will be admitted from 7 to 9:30 p.m. They will get a complimentary tasting glass and a chance to taste a variety of fine foods, wine, spirits and beer.

There will be such as shepherd’s pie, sliders, dishes featuring potatoes from an Idaho Falls farm and vegetarian options.

Vendors include Four Roses Bourbon, Dry Fly Distilling, Warfield Distillery & Brewery, Good Vibes Kombucha, Idaho Fudge and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream.

“It’s a tasting event, not sitting down for a massive dinner. People can try as much as they want or as little as they wish,” said Courtney Feider, event spokesperson. “People seem to like that it’s more than a beer fest—that they can try more than beer.”

Only 250 tickets will be sold per wave. Tickets are $90 and $70, available at https://www.tastecraftevent.com/.

Taste & Craft was founded in Boise in 2011 as the Treefort Music Festival was just starting. It set up shop at the Riverside Hotel the first year and, later on a full city block in Hyde Park.

“There were people in Boise at the time that didn’t even know what kinds of food and drink were  available in the region so this helped them understand what they could get,” said Feider.

As the event matured and many of the vendors began starting their own restaurants, organizers turned their sights to Sun Valley.

“We like the smaller community environment where we know we’ll be able to nurture other vendors,” said Feider.

The event has always donated to a nonprofit organization.

Laura Musbach Drake said it was nice to partner with another organization in an event that helps both the Trailing of the Sheep Festival and Taste & Craft full fill their missions and give back to the community.

“The Trailing of the Sheep Festival is celebrating 22 years and, with this new partnership with Taste & Craft, we can bring another element to our audience and end up on the receiving end as beneficiary of their proceeds,” said Drake, executive director of the Trailing of the Sheep Festival. “For this we are grateful!”
