100 Men Who Care will meet for their last meeting of the year, after having reached their namesake milestone at its last meeting.
The organization will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden. There. each man will throw $100 into the pot and vote on which Wood River Valley nonprofit should receive the pooled donations this time.
They will also hear a presentation from a representative of Ketchum’s Community Library, which was the beneficiary of a gift of $10,200 for its ongoing remodel and expansion during the July meeting.
100 Men Who Care have given $136,250 since founded.
Founder Marty Lyon has announced a few new changes in ways to improve the process.
Anyone nominating a nonprofit must have been a participant with 100 Men Who Care for at least a year. This eliminates someone from showing up and nominating hisr group, never to be seen again after his group wins.
Nominations must be made in writing on the nomination form found on the website at www.100menwhocarewoodrivervalley.com. This ensures the nominating member has done due diligence, vetting the organization. Floor nominations will not be taken.
Only four nominations will be drawn from the basket, in which all the nominations are pooled, in order to allow time for a more thorough presentation and discussion.
Those making the presentation should be prepared to discussion the organization’s budget, the number of people served, how funds would be used and other useful information supporting the nomination.
Those who are unable to attend Tuesday’s meeting may participate by mailing their $100 check to Marty Lyon at 106 Red Cloud Way, Hailey, ID 83333.
