Get a peek at the business scene in Bellevue tonight when The Chamber holds a Business After Hours at The Bead Shop’s new location at 213 N. Main St. in Bellevue.
The free networking event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight—Thursday, Oct. 18--and will include drinks and hors’ d’oeuvres. It is being hosted by Tammy Davis who teaches jewelry making and holds ceramic parties at The Bead Shop. She will be joined by sidekicks representing the Bellevue Haunted Forest and Mahoney’s Bar & Grill.
Those who attended Wake Up Hailey this past week at Harrison Insurance learned how owner Kathleen Harrison plans to “sort of retire” at the first the year to take a bucket list trip to South Africa and go biking and skiing with grandkids after 35 years of selling insurance.
“I will always be available--just not 24/7,” she said.
Life insurance is not that changed much over 35 years, but health insurance has really changed, she said.
“You’ve really got to stay on top of things. And fewer businesses can carry group insurance anymore as they used to.”
Harrison will entrust her business to Nathan Ching, a Mountain Home native who attended Boise State University. He will run the business with his wife Nicole Ching and Blanca Flores.
“I like that I can help people in this business,” said Nathan Ching. “Some come in after a bad situation, and I can help them plan ahead and make sure they’re properly protected so they don’t have to go through that again.”
Chamber Director Mary Austin Crofts announced that a thousand to 1,500 youngsters are expected to take part in Hailey’s Halloween Hoopla on Halloween.
“It’s such a wonderful day,” she said. “It’s an opportunity for kids to collect candy without having to be out in the dark. Then, all of you need to work out because we’ve got the Turkey Trot coming up on Thanksgiving Day—and that got 750 runners last year.”
The Kiwanis Club will once again hold its costume contest at the Liberty Theatre this year with Key Club kids from Wood River High School judging the costumes. And Jane’s Artifacts is donating black and orange balloons to identify businesses that plan to hand out candy.
