STORY BY KAREN BOSSICK

Halloween got off to an early start on Saturday as little hot dogs with feet showed up for the Harvest Festival at Sun Valley Resort and scary clowns took their places at Ketchum’s Nightmare on Main Street.

“Nightmare on Main Street was a fun event with several hundred people showing up  and having fun bouncing between Casino, Main Street and Whiskey's,” said Loren Wood. “The weather was perfect with it being in the 50's and no rain or snow unlike past years. We were able to see the partial full moon rise thru thin clouds over Dollar Mountain as the night went on. They had a lot of great costumes from Harry Potter to Tye Dye outfits to scary clowns, Jelly Fish, T-Rex, etc. Whiskey's did a great job with the DJ music and the colored laser lights going out thru the smoke from the fire pits.”

The fun continues today with Halloween Hoopla from 3 to 5 p.m. in downtown Hailey. There’ll be costume contests every 15 minutes for adults and children alike at the Liberty Theatre.

And merchants denoted by black and orange balloons will hand out treats. The Wood River Land Trust, for instance, will give out candy and Land Trust wrist bracelets.

And the Ellsworth Inn at 702 3rd St. South in Hailey is inviting all comers for its Hellsworth Fright Night from 3 to 8 p.m.

Further South in Bellevue Gary and Judith Ann Peak are holding their second annual Haunted Garden—a giant Clue-like maze through their yard and outbuildings.

The garden will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. at 311 S. 2nd St.  Any donations will be awarded to the Bellevue City Library.
