Poetry, carols and more will fill St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Sunday as the church hosts its annual service of Advent Lessons, Carols and Poetry.
A reception will follow the “Reflections on Christ’s Nativity.”
The service—a collaboration between St. Thomas Church and St. Thomas Playhouse--will be held at 5:30 p.m. tonight—Sunday, Dec. 2.
It will feature poetry by Wendell Berry, Luci Shaw, David Whyte and others.
Among the poems that will be recited is Marie Howe’s “What the Silence Says:”
“I know that you think you already know but—
“Wait.
“Longer than that.
Even longer than that.”
The Rev. Bill Harper has chosen the poetry. Claudia McCain is directing the actors, and Sara Gorby is producing the service. Joel Bejot is leading the singing.
Readers are Rachel Brannon, Judi Fuller, Matt Gorby, Carter Hedberg, Bob Kesting, Ward Loving, Helen Morgus, Page Klune, Sara Pettit and Tim Price.
