Sun Valley’s Winter Wonderland celebration culminates tonight with the annual Christmas Eve ice skating show, torchlight parade and fireworks.
The free “Skating in a Winter Wonderland” show at Sun Valley Resort’s outdoor ice rink will feature performances by World Professional Pair Champions Frank Sweiding and Anita Hartshorn, two-time U.S. Gold Medalist Ashley Clark, who has a thing for skating with fire, and other professional skaters.
The tiny tots of the Sun Valley Figure Skating club will add the “awwws.” And there will be a few surprise guests, as well.
The Sun Valley Carolers will warm up the evening with their a cappella Christmas Carols while Santa Claus has pledged to drop in, as well.
And the evening will culminate with ski instructors casting Dollar Mountain in a warm red glow as they snake down the slopes with their torchlights.
Fireworks will immediately follow.
The fun begins at 5 p.m. when Sun Valley Resort will serve free hot cocoa and cookies on the Sun Valley Lodge terrace. The show begins about 5:30 p.m.
Parking is available in the Sun Valley Pavilion parking lot, also known as the Horseman’s Center parking lot, across from the indoor ice rink on Dollar Road.
Gates open at 3 p.m. Some ice show seating will be reserved on bleachers and on the Lodge Terrace for hotel guests and visitors who are less mobile.
