View a collection of the year’s best climbing films taking you from the Jordan Desert to Antarctica when the Wood River Community YMCA conducts a free screening of “Reel Rock 13.”

The movie will be presented at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at the Y, thanks to the generosity of the Roy A. Hunt Foundation.

The film includes a look at “Age of Ondra,” about a 25-year-old Czech crusher who established a benchmark for the sport--a 5.15d in Norway that he dubbed “Silence.”

“Up to Speed” examines the shock of many climbers to learn that one of three combined events required to compete for the inaugural climbing medal in the 2020 Olympics  is speed climbing. The film culminates at an international competition in Moscow where speed demons race up a 15-meter wall in less than six seconds.

“Queen Maud Land” follows six elite climbers, including Alex Honnold, Conrad Anker and Jimmy Chin, who just visited Sun Valley, in the remote frozen towers of Antarctica.

And Valley of the Moon takes viewers to Wadi Rum, a vast landscape of sandstone walls in the desert of Jordan.
