Common thought believes that all hell breaks loose when a woman’s hormones drop.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Dr. Maria Maricich will present three must-do’s to prevent “menopause madness” during a free presentation at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, above Gail Severn Gallery at 131 4th St. East, Suite 310.
Her prescriptions are natural and don’t involve hormone replacement. The to-do’s will come with a free workbook.
“Menopause is a natural and normal event,” says Maricich, who specializes in functional medicine. “When the body is in balance, it can be a breeze.”
The discussion will involve a look at how hormones mess with your head, possibly leaving you with a short fuse, and how to stop it. It will discuss what causes cravings for sugar, salt, alcohol and drugs at this stage of life. And it will address such things as weight gain, osteoporosis and how to prevent hormone-related cancers.
