Learn about the healing power of fly-fishing during Trout Unlimited’s monthly program on Thursday.

The free program will be offered from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Whiskey Jacques in Ketchum.

Jeff Burley, director of Adaptive Sports for Higher Ground, will present “Take a Veteran Fishing.” And Greg Loomis, executive director of Silver Creek Alliance, will follow that up with “News from Silver Creek.”

The Veterans Service Partnership is a nationwide effort initiated by Trout Unlimited in 2011 to bring the healing power of water to those who have served the nation. Trout Unlimited’s 400 chapters currently involve 300,000 members and supporters in the work, and they are witnessing miracles on a regular and increasing basis.

Locally, the Hemingway Chapter of Trout Unlimited has been partnering with Higher Ground Sun Valley and Pproject Healing Waters to provide a program in the Wood River Valley.

Veteran fishermen teach military veterans how to build rods, tie flies and cast. They take them fishing weekly during summer.

Each participant receives a complimentary membership to Trout Unlimited. And their chapter becomes a safe haven where veterans can serve and be served in return.

Anyone interesting in being involved can contact Mark Milkovich at mark@milkojm.com .
