Get ready for goosebumps!
It’s time for the Cold Bowl Pond Skim on Dollar Mountain.
The event, which annually closes out Dollar Mountain’s ski season, will take place at noon Sunday, March 31. There’ll be an outdoor BBQ, live music, giveaways and prizes for participants, including best costumes.
Participants who want to try sliding down a hill and boarding across a pond of water without sinking should register at Dollar Mountain starting at 9 a.m. The event itself will kick off a noon.
The day will mark the end of the season at Dollar Mountain. Sun Valley Nordic Center will also close that day, despite more snow than it’s boasted in the past 20 years at this time of the year.
The center promises to reopen in the 2019-20 winter season as a Rossignol Experience Center. It’ll have even better trail conditions, thanks to pre-season trail work. And there may even be some fencing in the future to keep people from walking on the Boundary loop.
Bald Mountain, which received two inches of new snow in the past 24 hours, will remain open through April 21.
