Tickets will go on sale for an upcoming performance by The Robert Cray Band at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19.
The Argyros Performing Arts Center will present the Grammy Award-winning Robert Cray Band at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 9.
American blues guitarist Robert Cray is one of the biggest names on the modern blues scene, having created a fresh yet familiar sound rising from American roots.
Over the past 40 years he and his band have recorded 20 studio releases, 15 of which has been on the billboard charts. Cray has also won five Grammy Awards with his storytelling songs and soulful vocals and been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame.
Born in Columbus, Ga., where his father was stationed at Fort Benning, Cray grew up in Newport News, Va., and Tacoma, Wash.
He formed his own band while living in Eugene, Ore., after seeing the likes of Muddy Waters and Freddie King in concert. And soon he was the headliner, playing on his Fender guitars and recording such pieces as “Phone Booth” and ‘Smokin’ Gun.”
