Mark Twain famously said, “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated” after a major American newspaper printed his obituary.
The same could be said about the Building Materials Thrift Store at 3930 Woodside Blvd. in Hailey.
The store continues to operate from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays, thanks to the work of volunteers.
It will be closed Memorial Day weekend but will reopen Sunday, June 2, and volunteers hope to expand the hours the store is open beginning in June.
Donations are best accepted Sundays when volunteers are there to provide donors with a donation receipt and stock the items.
They accept:
- Tools and equipment in working order
- Furniture and housewares in good repair
- Appliances less than 10 years old and in working orders.
- Other building supplies and reusable items that are not broken or worn out.
Volunteers ask that you do not leave junk, paint, mattresses or broken items.
The Building Materials Thrift Store was founded by Bruce Tidwell in 1997 to recycle building materials and household goods to keep construction materials out of the landfill. Proceeds go towards the Wood River Land Trust’s efforts to protect special places in the Wood River Valley.
Those who would like to volunteer are asked to email bmts@woodriverlandtrust.org. Or, call 208-788-0014.
