Actor Scott Glenn will read a couple love poems he composed for his wife. Jana Arnold and R.L. Rowsey will lead LitWalkers in a Rant and Rave. And everyone will get an opportunity to have their photo taken with Ernest Hemingway during Tuesday’s LitWalk.

The LitWalk will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, with the museum in Forest Service Park staying open until 8:30 p.m.

“We started five years ago celebrating 60 years of the library and how amazing it was it had grown from the Gold Mine shack to a community resource found in multiple locations,” said Carter Hedberg, the library’s director of philanthropy.

“I thought: People love Gallery Walk. Why not celebrate something that involves walking to different areas?! Five years ago, think what that first LitWalk was like. The new library was just in the planning stages. And now look at what will greet participants. Our goal was to make the library more accessible, more flexible, safer. It’s a once-in-a-generation project responding to the needs of the community. I get emotional just thinking about it.”

• During LitWalk participants will be invited to don costumes and be filmed while reading a passage from James Joyce’s “Ulysses” on the recently reopened front patio in something inspired by Bloomsday, Dublin’s annual celebration of its favorite son.
• Inside the lobby the Ulysses Cynlinders—16 glass cylinders created by Dale Chihuly--will great LitWalkers as they enter the library.
• To the left the library will premiere a walking tour app of Ernest Hemingway haunts it created with Travel Stories. The app, narrated by Ernest’s granddaughter Mariel Hemingway, features photos of places like Michel’s Christiania where Hemingway had his last supper.
• The Betty Olson Carr Reading Room, still under construction, will be open. Maddie Morgan, a Nordic skier currently attending Middlebury College, will design the outline of the Wood River Valley on the floor and LitWalkers will be encouraged to add their own remarks and designs.

  “It will eventually be covered up, but it will be part of the history of the library forever more,” said Hedberg.

• The Hemingway Veranda will be open to the public for the first time, with Jana Arnold and R.L. Rowsey leading fellow actors and John Q. Public in a Rant & Rave on the soapbox.
• The Lecture Hall will feature authors and notables, such as Grand Slam Tennis Champion Mats Wilander, reading from books they love.

  The lineup:

  4:30 p.m. Julie Weston author of three mysteries set in the Sun Valley area, including “Moonshine,” “Moonshadows” and “Basque moon.

  4:45 p.m. Ketchum Mayor Neil Bradshaw, who grew up in Rhodesia and now works as a business advisor for Murphy business and Financial of Southern Idaho

  5 p.m. Tennis Champ Mats Wilander, former World No. 1 tennis player and seven-time Grand Slam title winner from Sweden

  5:15 p.m. Sarah Sentilles, author of several books, including “Draw Your Weapons” and “Breaking Up with God; A Love Story”

  5:30 p.m. Carol and Scott Glenn. Scott Glenn has appeared in more than 60 films, including “The Right Stuff,” “Urban Cowboy” and “The Silence of the Lambs.” He will read from his just published book “Room Service: Poems for Carol.” Carol Glenn is a ceramic artist who, along with her husband, has been a resident of Ketchum since 1978.

  5:45 p.m. Rebecca Rusch, an ultra-endurance athlete world champion mountain biker, the star of an Emmy-winning film “Blood Road,” and author of “Rusch to Glory: Adventure, Risk & Triumph on the Path Less Traveled”

  6 p.m. Mariel Hemingway, a Ketchum native who has received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations and has written several books, including “Running with Nature,” and “Mariel Hemingway’s Healthy Living from the Inside Out”

  6:15 p.m. Judith Freeman, author of several novels, including “Red River” and a nonfiction book, “The Long Embrace: Raymond Chandler and the Woman He Loved.”

  6:30 p.m. Ridley Pearson, bestselling author of more than 50 suspense and young adult adventure novels, including “Peter and the Starcatchers”

  6:45 p.m. Nick Neeley, author of “Coast Range: A Collection from the Pacific Edge” and the upcoming “Alta California: From San Diego to San Francisco, a Journey on Foot to Rediscover the Golden State.”

• Outside the lecture hall, Sun Valley Resort will serve up complimentary hors d’oeuvres in the new Spin’s Courtyard, named for Spin Bill, a former board member who was friends with the Hemingways and library co-founder Clara Spiegel.

  The concrete floor of the patio features rings, which Hedberg likens to the rings of a tree or, in the case of the library, the many years it’s been a part of the community. It’s framed by redwood staves repurposed from an old Ketchum water tower. Redwood staves also bookend shelves inside.

  Stone benches made of Oakley stone will offer places to sit. And Warfield Distillery will have wine and beer for sale.

• Children can create Chihuly-Inspired Artwork in the children’s library. And everyone will be invited to avail themselves of free Toni’s ice cream.
• Dewey, Pickette and Howe will play their Americana-style music at the Gold Mine Thrift Store. The band is one of 22 featured on “Keeping it Home,” a CD recorded to benefit the library. The CD, which features such musicians as Mia Edsal, The Braun Brothers, Bruce Innes, Robbie Walden Band and Doghaus, has raised $2,000 to date for the library. The CD’s will be on sale, along with Keep Cups.
• Tacqueria al Pastor will sell $1 tacos at Gold Mine Consign.
• LitWalk winds up at Ketchum’s Forest Service Park with Ketch’em Alive. LitWalkers will be invited to take a photo with Ernest Hemingway in the Photo Booth there.

Raffle tickets will be on sale offering such prizes as a gift certificate to dine at the Hemingway Table at Michel’s Christiana. Other prizes include sport shooting for two at the Sun Valley Gun Club, a stay in the Hemingway Suite at the Sun Valley Lodge and a private visit to the Hemingway House.

There also will be a Sun Valley Resort Challenger Season Ski Pass up for grabs. Raffle tickets are $5 each, available at the Community Library, Gold Mine and Museum of Regional History.
