The Hailey Public Library has expanded its collection.
But the newest additions to the library are not books. These new items available for checkout include a kid’s fishing pole, tennis balls and rackets, a tool box and a water cooler for your drinks.
The Library of Things was part of an initiative to give patrons a more versatile selection of items available for checkout. It was inspired by other Idaho libraries that offer a similar set up.
“The Library of Things will give people the opportunity to discover a passion,” said Josh Crotty, the library’s teen and tech services coordinator. “It’s a way for someone to get involved in something they’ve always wanted to try without having to invest money in it.”
Other exciting “things” for checkout include:
- A Code Kit, permitting students to build games with their own codes while learning to program
- A Kamigami Robot, which individuals can program and play with
- A urpower, a travel steamer for clothing
- Bloxels, a videogame building kit.
