Blaine County School District’s Latino Staff Advisory Committee will present the third Annual Conferencia Educativa Para Padres/Education Conference for Parents on Saturday, September 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the BCSD Community Campus Minnie Moore Room, 1050 Fox Acres Road, Hailey.
The event is free and open to all parents in Blaine County. Keynote speaker Sam Byrd will speak to parents about intercultural competence and including all voices in public education. Sam Byrd is the director of Centro de Comunidad y Justicia in Boise and is back by popular demand from Latino parents and staff for the third consecutive year.
Highlights:
Presentations are Spanish with English interpretation.
- Free childcare is provided at the Blaine County Recreation District’s HUB.
- Free pizza and beverages are provided and attendees are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share.
- Cox Communications, the event sponsor, will hold a raffle for a Bluetooth speaker.
The conference is the culmination of feedback from parents over the past five years who have asked for information in order to support student success in school. The workshop will include a presentation by Sam Byrd, a break for dinner, and dialogue with parents, students and staff facilitated by Sam Byrd.
