It’s a sheep of many colors—a sort of stained glass homage to the annual trailing of the sheep that unfolds each year in the Wood River Valley.
And the new sculpture now stands on the corner of Hailey’s Main and Myrtle streets—right where the green Sinclair dinosaur used to stand.
Is that an evolution of sorts?
The Hailey Arts & Historic Preservation Commission and the City of Hailey unveiled the 45-by-63-inch sculpture Tuesday night on the eve of the 23rd annual Trailing of the Sheep Festival, which brings people from around the world to celebrate Sun Valley’s sheep growing heritage.
The sculpture was created by Gooding artist Jacob Novinger, who incorporated found objects, such as auto and tractor body parts.
