Economic Summit to Explore Ways to Boost Workers’ Livability

The growing conundrum of income inequality in micropolitan communities will be the focus of the 8th annual Economic Summit on Monday. The summit carries the theme “Building a Working Economy for Those Who Live It.”

The event, organized by Sun Valley Economic Development, will take place from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, in the Limelight Room at Sun Valley Resort.

Lowell Aplebaum, CEO and strategy catalyst for Vista Cova who has worked across five continents and all 50 states, will discuss “Building Networks to Bridge Our Gaps.”

Robert Spendlove, senior vice president at Zions Bank, will look at the national trends and regional and local impacts concerning the economic landscape.

Andrew Mentzer, executive director of West Central Mountains Economic Development Council, will talk about “YIMBY’s in our Backyard.”

And Jenni Riley, director of Business Development for Hazlett Wealth Management and founding board member of The Giving Guide, will talk about “The Nonprofit Impact—More than Just Charitable.”

There also will be three panels featuring such speakers as Trish Swartling of The Advocates, Twin Falls Mayor Shawn Barigar and State Sen. Michelle Stennett: “Will the Next Generation Live the Dream?” “The Government Bridge: Building a Regional Partnership” and “The Nonprofit Role in Building Community Bridges.”

Coffee and networking starts with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. The price of admission also includes  coffee breaks and a buffet lunch.
