Ted Dyer has long played drums in the Duchin Room and for the Wood River Orchestra.
Wednesday, November 6, 2019

Drummer Ted Dyer will be in the spotlight when the Wood River Orchestra performs the “Drumroll Symphony” at Sunday’s free fall concert.

The concert starts at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Wood River High School Performing Arts Theater in Hailey.

The “Drumroll” nickname comes from the dramatic timpani roll that begins Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 103.

It’s considered Haydn’s best symphony, said Orchestra Conductor Brad Hershey.

Eleven-year-old Tristan Boloix will also play a selection from Wolfgang Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 6 during the concert.

The orchestra was founded in 2007 to offer area residents a chance to perform and enjoy orchestral music. It boasts more than 30 musicians of all ages and abilities and new members are always welcome.

It performs three main concerts each year, as well as at community events. Though the performances are free, donations are always welcome to help pay for the music and more.

Next up; A Holiday Concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood in Ketchum.
