Being Thankful for the Color in Our Lives
Karen Bossick captured the gray granite rock of the Bighorn Crags north of Sun Valley as they began turning pink on an August evening.

No doubt there will be a lot of thanks being offered this morning for Wednesday’s deep snows, which left Sun Valley looking like a scene out of a Norman Rockwell painting, providing the icing to the beginning of Sun Valley Resort’s 84th winter season.

There are many other simple but profound pleasures we can give thanks for, as well.

One of the unique pleasures we have living in the Wood River Valley is the beautiful pink and orange hue that envelops our valley as alpenglow sets in.

Sun Valley’s Leslie Silva memorialized this sunset bathing Baldy in dramatic fashion.

Sunsets are a little more difficult to come by, surrounded as we are by mountains. But they certainly give us more reason to be thankful as orange, pink and magenta hues streak across the sky like a curtain to close out our bluebird days.

Here are a few recent sunsets to enjoy taken by Leslie Silva, Marty Lyon and Karen Bossick. Just a little color as the valley turns to winter shades of white and forest green.

Hailey resident Marty Lyon captured this shot during his “before the snow flies” vacation to Kihei, Maui, this November.

Clouds—sometimes few and far between in sunny Sun Valley—create this dramatic scene over the Wood River Valley in this portrait taken by Leslie Silva.

You can feel the wind blow in this photo captured from a Maui beach by Marty Lyon.
