Get in the spirit of the Christmas season at the next gathering of the Little Black Dress Club.
All women are invited to the collective giving gathering, which will be held at 5:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at the Argyros Performing Arts Center in Ketchum.
Each woman will contribute a $100 tax deductible donation, which will be pooled and given to the nonprofit that receives the most votes of the women in attendance.
Five Blaine County nonprofit organizations have been randomly selected to present their case for funding: Flourish Foundation, KDPI Drop In Radio, Inc., Senior Bash, Hailey Public Library and Men’s Second Chance Living.
Each will present a short funding request followed by an opportunity for attendees to ask questions. A vote will then be held to decide the grant winners.
The Little Black Dress club was formed 10 years ago as a loosely knit group of women who come together three times a year to give to smaller nonprofit organizations in the valley.
The club has donated more than $140,000 to local organizations over the past 10 years. Last May participants awarded a $2,000 grant to the Wood River chapter of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and a $4,000 grant to the I Have a Dream Foundation, Idaho.
Representatives from those two groups will offer an update on how they’ve used their grants during Monday’s meeting.
Women who cannot attend the meeting but would like to participate may send a $100 tax-deductible donation to Little Black Dress Club, P.O. Box 313, Hailey, ID 83333. The “Pay to” field should be left blank and checks will be made payable directly to the grant recipient. A recognition letter will be mailed each donor.
