Tickets go on sale Wednesday for Ballet Sun Valley’s 2020 Festival.

The festival will feature Pacific Northwest Ballet July 13 and 14 in the Sun Valley Pavilion.

As in past years, the 2020 Festival will feature different programming each night. Specific programming details will be announced later.

The Seattle-based Pacific Northwest Ballet is one of the largest, most highly regarded ballet companies in the United States, having been founded in 1972. It is led by Artistic Director Peter Boal, who is known for his focus on both classical and contemporary ballet.

The contemporary repertoire includes the choreography of such celebrated dance innovators as Crystal Pite, Alejandro Cerrudo, Edwaard Liang, Jessica Lang and Benjamin Millepied.

Boal joined the company in 2005 and serves not only as its artistic director but director of the PNB School. He was featured in more than 40 roles during his 22 years as a professional dancer with New York City Ballet. Additionally, he originated numerous roles in works created by choreographers Jerome Robbins, Christopher Wheeldon and Twyla Tharp, while serving as a full-time faculty member at the School of American Ballet from 1997 to 2005.

PNB has created 109 new works since Boal’s arrival in 2005 as part of their New Works initiative. The initiative supports dancers and choreographers as they create the ballet of tomorrow. Its company’s 50 dancers present more than a hundred performances each year of full-length and mixed repertory ballets at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall in Seattle and on tour in venues throughout Europe, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Canada and the United States.

PNB will work with Sun Valley’s community programs while here.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Mountain Standard Time Wednesday, Dec. 18. To purchase tickets, visit www.balletsunvalley.org.
