The Sun Valley Museum of Art has donated 1,500 Art Kits to the Blaine County School District’s Summer Learning Backpack program.

The backpacks, meant for those in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, are filled with supplies for continued learning opportunities over the summer.

Each contains two new books and other resources to engage students sin summer learning. The Art Kits include colored pencils, watercolor paints and paintbrush, a sketch pad, blue and an eraser.

The kits were sponsored by SVMoA board member Kay Hardy and her husband Gregory Kaslo, who wanted to make sure every child had supplies they could use in responding to SVMoA’s online activities offering ideas for ways to utilize the materials.

“We know art is an essential way to communicate and, while we are not able to be in front of the valley’s students this summer, we hope the kit inspires exploration and expression,” said Kristin Poole, the SVMoA’s artistic director.
