It’s ironic that COVID-19 just passed Alzheimer’s as the sixth leading cause of death among Americans.
After all, June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month.
COVID-19 has now killed nearly more Americans than the 121,404 Americans who died of Alzheimer’s disease in 2017.
Normally, Silver Creek Living in Hailey would do a fundraiser on June 20—“The Longest Day” to raise money for research and awareness about Alzheimer’s. But it was unable to do its usual walk to raise because of the COVID pandemic.
Instead, Danielle Andrews, the community relations director for Silvercreek, has printed up a number of #IdahoEndALz shirts.
The shirts cost $12 each and 25 percent of each T-shirt purchase goes to the Alzheimer’s Association Idaho Chapter.
“They use the money for research,” said Andrews.
Already several groups, including local firefighters, have proudly donned their T-shirts.
