The HUB Youth programs are back in action.
Registration will open Monday, Aug. 24, for Blaine County Recreation District’s HUB After-School, Full Day Fridays and Recess from School programs for the 2020-21 school year.
The After-School and Recess from School programs will be offered during Plan B, a mix of in-person and online school programming that the Blaine County School District currently plans to offer when school starts. It will also fit the bill should the school district shift to Plan A of its COVID-19 Reopening Plan.
The full-day programming will be offered every Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. while in Plan B.
The HUB youth center is a licensed child-care facility located at the Community Campus in Hailey. Programs are open to children in kindergarten through fifth-grade.
The Plan B After-School care will be offered from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday with all-day care from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays. The Plan A will provide After-school care from 2:30 to 6 p.m. weekdays.
The HUB offers a myriad of activities, including group games, arts and crafts and other activities based on monthly themes like “Awesome Animals” and “World Wonders.” The new Full Day Fridays will include a session of online learning support, in addition to the other activities.
Some transportation is available through BCSD to the Community Campus after school from Hailey and Alturas Elementary schools on the child’s in-school days.
Recess from School is an all-day youth program offered when school is out of session for some holidays, parent/teacher conferences or teacher-in service days. The program runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on those days for a daily rate of $36.
Due to the changing nature of the upcoming school year’s schedule, registration will be offered on a month-by-month basis. Plan B’s After-School care for two days a week costs $70 a month. After-School care for four days a week costs $133 a month and full-day Friday care costs $36 a day.
Scholarships are available at www.bcrd.org.
Safety protocols have been established to decrease the risk of virus transmission. Students will be separated into smaller groups, each meeting at specific sites throughout the Community Campus to ensure social distancing.
Outdoor activities will be championed as much as possible and masks will be required indoors.
