While there is no Labor Day Gallery Walk because of the pandemic, Kneeland Gallery will have a reception for its new exhibition from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4.
Neal Philpott, Andrzej Skorut and Jennifer Lowe will be on hand to take part in the “Field of Dreamscapes.”
Lowe, as always, will brighten the evening with her playful paintings combining the landscapes, animals and people of her native Montana. She uses the untraditional medium of Livestock Marker, which she applies with both her fingers and a brush.
Realist painter Neal Philpott seeks to capture the ephemeral nature of the Northwest with his paintings of meandering roads, distant fence lines and farmhouses nestled in trees. His work is animated by light, creating the lines, forms and structure that give his compositions their charge.
Andrzej Skorut spent his early years in Krakow, Poland, before immigrating to the United States in 1987. At first glance, his paintings appear to be simple landscapes. But they are actually as abstract as they are representational. He reveals concealed depths within his surfaces through layers of paint and glaze, which he then partially removes with rags, sticks and other objects.
