The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Idaho, has unveiled a new website as part of National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.
The website at www.namiidaho.org includes a calendar of support groups that meet in the Wood River Valley, Treasure Valley, the Idaho Falls area and the Sandpoint area.
The support groups, which were face to face before COVID 19, now are all online so they can be accessed by anyone in Idaho, regardless of where they live.
“This is a landmark moment that enables our local NAMI affiliates to offer support group access to people and areas that do not have a local NAMI affiliate,” said Michael Sandvig, president of NAMI Idaho.
The Wood River Valley affiliate has a Spanish speaking family support group—Grupo de Apoyo para Familiares de NAMI, he added.
Throughout the month of September NAMI is amplifying its “You are Not Alone” campaign, which builds awareness about suicide with digital tools and storytelling that make connection possible while people are physical distancing.
