“This is a critical time for our school district, and we want to hear from our families, staff, students and community members about what they feel are the most important factors when it comes to our next superintendent,” said Keith Roark, board chair. “This survey will provide us with helpful input and feedback, informing the key decisions we will be making in the weeks and months to come. We truly appreciate our community's engagement around this important issue as we plan for the future.”
Holmes is Idaho’s highest-paid superintendent with an annual salary of $180,208. She announced she will leave the school district effective June 30, 2021. Earlier, some community members called for her ouster, accusing her of wasteful spending and ethical violations.
Her predecessor Lonnie Barber stepped down as superintendent in 2013 after clashing with the board.
The next superintendent will lead a district where 40 percent of the students are Hispanic and 20 percent, or 722 of them, are English language learners. The average teacher in the district makes $75,000, compared with $53,000 for the average teacher in West Ada, Idaho’s largest school district.
The HYA will compile feedback from the survey and Zoom meeting for a Leadership Profile Report that will be presented at the Oct. 13 Board of Trustees meeting.

La Mesa Directiva del Distrito Escolar del Condado de Blaine está buscando la opinión de la comunidad al comenzar su búsqueda del próximo superintendente del distrito.
Específicamente, la junta quiere escuchar los pensamientos de los miembros de la comunidad sobre las fortalezas del distrito y los desafíos más urgentes, cuáles deben ser las prioridades del nuevo líder y las características profesionales y personales que debe poseer el próximo superintendente.
La junta ha contratado los servicios de Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA), una firma que se especializa en ayudar a las juntas con la identificación y selección de posibles candidatos a superintendentes. HYA lanzará una encuesta en línea para toda la comunidad a las 6:00 p. m. el lunes 21 de septiembre. La encuesta, que tarda unos 10 minutos en completarse, se cerrará a la medianoche del domingo 4 de octubre.
