The Blaine County Sheriff wants to know if you’ve seen a possible missing hiker.
Fern Baird, a 5-foot-5, 115-pound relatively experienced hiker, is believed to have gone for a hike in the Prairie Creek area north of Ketchum at about 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19.
The family is offering a $25,000 reward for information that could aid in finding her.
The sheriff was notified on Thursday that the 64-year-old woman from Park City, Utah, was missing.
Deputies found her 2018 Subaru Crosstrek with the Utah plate YOPABAG at the Prairie Creek trailhead. And 20 Sherriff Search and Rescue members and deputies began searching the Prairie Lake, Minor Lake and Mill Lake area that afternoon. An Idaho National Guard helicopter also assisted with the search until it was suspended at dusk.
The search resumed on Friday with 40 searchers, including Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue members from Boise. Searchers fanned out on foot, motorcycle, and horseback with three K9 search teams but did not find Baird.
The search resumed again at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24.
If you have seen Baird or have any information about her, call the Blaine County Emergency Communications at 208-788-5555. Volunteers are not being asked to search the area at this point.
