Teens can explore how to share a story or memory through monologue in a special workshop titled “Stories from the Pandemic: Monologue Writing and Presentation.”

The workshop designed for those in grades 6 through 12, will be presented by Company of Fools artist Matt Musgrove from 1 to 4 p.m. Fridays Nov. 6 and 13 at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey.

It is being presented by Sun Valley Museum of Art and Company of Fools.

Students will craft 90-second monologues that relate a story of life during the coronavirus pandemic as Musgrove helps them refine their written piece on the first Friday. They will focus on the skills necessary to perform a monologue on the second Friday and practice for a performance for family members on the Liberty Theatre stage.

Musgrove, a native of Eugene, Ore., is an Actors’ Equity member with a BFA in musical theatre from Ithaca College. After touring nationally and singing in New York, he moved to Los Angeles where he found work in film, Ovation! theatre, commercials, video games, web series and transmedia projects.

We are thrilled to offer teens an outlet for expressing their thoughts and experiences as we live through this historic global pandemic,” said Katelyn Foley, Director of Education and Humanities at SVMoA. “Matt Musgrove is a skilled actor and coach, and I look forward to seeing what the teens present on the second day of the workshop.”

Students should bring a snack, a notebook and a pencil. Tuition for “Stories from the Pandemic: Monologue Writing and Presentation” is $10, and advance registration is required. To reserve a space in the workshop, visit svmoa.org or call 208.726.9491.
