Sun Valley Resort is releasing five short-form videos this week beginning today as part of the National Ski Areas Association National Safety Month.
The videos, released on social media channels, identify five mountain zones within the resort and discuss each zone’s safety protocols and etiquette.
The zones include the Slow Zone, Loading Zone and the Terrain Park Zone.
The Sunrise Zone encompasses 380 acres of new backcountry-style terrain that will open off of Seattle Ridge once enough snow accumulates. And the Uphill Zone video addresses how to ski, snowshoe and hike up Bald Mountain safely outside of normal resort operating hours.
"In Sun Valley, we take mountain safety very seriously,” says Bryant Dunn, of the Sun Valley Ski Patrol. “Adhering to the Skier's Responsibility Code demonstrates a respect for fellow recreationists and leads to a more enjoyable on-slope experience for everyone."
Sun Valley also is collaborating with the Sawtooth Avalanche Center to create a new video discussing backcountry safety. The video highlights the dangers of snow immersion suffocation and tree well accidents.
