NAMI-WRV is launching its eight-session Family-to-Family education course via Zoom on Tuesday, Feb. 16.
Sessions are held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through March 10.
They offer information about brain biology, metal health conditions, treatment options, communication strategies and what it’s like to experience a mental illness.
They also help family members cope with crises, find balance through self-care and advocate for better treatment and recovery-oriented services for their loved ones.
Participants will be given course handouts and a Crisis File to refer to.
The program is listed on the National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices. It is reviewed annually to ensure the science, language and policy information is current and relevant.
Locally, the program is taught by Roger Olson and Sally Hanson, co-founders of NAMI-WRV, Family-to-Family trainers and Family Support Group facilitators.
To learn more, call Olson at 208-309-0979.
