Footlite Dance Centre is filming the Centre’s original production of “Star Wars—Trap at Arcturas” May 7-9 at the Wood River High School Performing Arts Theater at Hailey’s Community Campus.
The show will be filmed, edited and released in June, 2021. The original production premiered in the valley in 1983.
The story for this show was shaped after a story written by former Wood River Valley resident Helene Potts for the 1983 production. Today’s story has been updated to include some new characters and music updates.
The new show will feature graduating seniors Britta Heaphy, Daria Brown and Sydney Herold dancing for their last time on the stage at WRHS. Britta Heaphy plays the part of Princess Leia, Dakota Barth is Luke Skywalker, Luke Mauldin is Darth Vader, Sydney Herold is Rey, Hazel Ludwig is Queen Padme and Leo Star is C3PO.
The show’s 175 dancers will entertain the audience with modern, jazz, tap, hip hop and ballet. And, yes, light sabers will be drawn!
Choreography is by local instructors Gabi Bryant, Bryn Downey, Julie Fox, Robyn Fox, Shellrae Garnes, Melodie Taylor-Mauldin, Michele Minailo, Hilarie Neely, Rika Pere, Jen Simpson, Leah Taylor, Kassidy Thompson and Anne Winton. Guest choreographers are Kioa Delos Reyes and Lydia Sakolsky Basquill.
