Logan Miller spends his summers cruising through the rugged backcountry surrounding Sun Valley, arming sheepherders with noise makers and bright flashing lights—non-lethal ways to scare off predators.
His primary interest is the wolf, which makes sense since he’s the field manager for the Wood River Wolf Project. The project is designed to minimize conflict between sheep ranchers and wolves and has, in fact, provided fodder for efforts to co-exist with wolves in other countries.
Miller will discuss what he does and answer any and all questions about wolves during an upcoming Science Pub presentation.
The free presentation will be held from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 at the Sawtooth Brewery in Hailey.
“We'll talk wolves, what they mean for the landscape and how the Wood River Wolf Project collaborative has been able to help ranchers coexist with them for 14 years now,” Miller said
