Get your carving tools ready. A couple pumpkin carving events are headed our way.
- Swiftsure Ranch is seeking pumpkin carvers to enter its inaugural Community Carving Contest on Thursday, Oct. 21.
The event is part of the annual Blazing Pumpkins, which will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. that night at the ranch south of Bellevue.
Those who wish to enter should drop off carved pumpkins from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Big Wood Landscape, 12449 Highway 75 in Ketchum, or at the ranch at 114 Calypso Lane south of Bellevue.
There is no cost to enter the contest, but winners could get some great prizes.
The Blazing Pumpkins will include hundreds of glowing Jack O’Lanterns spread out through the woods, s’mores, a pumpkin catapult and apple launcher, cornhole, strongman, and live music by Red Light Challenge.
- The Advocates are staging a Pumpkins for Positivity event on Friday, Oct. 15. The event, organized by The Advocates ETC (Every Teen Counts) interns, will be held from 4:15 to 6:15 p.m. at Hop Porter Park in Hailey.
High school kids will pair up with middle schoolers to decorate a pumpkin.
The event is being held in honor of anti-bullying month with the idea that creating solid bonds helps create a safe environment for all.
