Want money to make that long cherished dream project a reality?

The Wood River Women’s Foundation will begin accepting online applications for its 2022 grants cycle on Monday, Nov. 1.

The application documents are under the “Apply for a Grant” tab on the Foundation’s website at www.woodriverwomensfoundation.org

The WRWF offers grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000. The application deadline is Wednesday, Dec. 1. Grants will be awarded in June 2022 after the organization’s 300-some members have had an opportunity to review and vote on applications.

“After a challenging 2021, we are grateful to our members for their philanthropic contributions that make this 2022 cycle of our grants possible,” said the Foundation’s President Terri Bullock. “During our lifespan of service to Blaine County, WRWF has awarded $3.2 million to 66 nonprofits in more than 170 grants. We are more committed than ever in our support of the nonprofits that serve our community.”

Each WFWR member contributes $1,000--their contributions pooled to provide funding for causes voted on by the group. (Women may elect to donate $300 of their $1,000 donation to an Idaho nonprofit of their choice.)

The organization got its start in 2005 in a conversation on a ski chairlift between Barbara Thrasher and Jo Murray who realized that collective giving could make a big impact in their community.

The 2021 grants went to a variety of organizations, including the Blaine County Charitable Fund for emergency assistance, Blaine County Education Foundation to help students make up schooling they might have lost while schools were online, the Blaine County Housing Foundation to help with the effort to address affordable housing and the Blaine County Recreation District to build its Quigley Trails Park infrastructure.

The organization also provides opportunities for women to socialize at Mix and Mingle and other events.
