The Bellevue Public Library will celebrate Dia de los Ninos, or Day of the Children, today with a bouncy house and more.
The celebration will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. today—Saturday, April 30--at the library at 117 E. Pine St. It will include the bouncy house and refreshments provided by The Community Table, aka La Mesa Comunitaria.
There also will be storytelling, crafts, face painting, pinatas, an opportunity to build with Legos and book giveaways.
Children’s Day was first declared a national holiday by the Republic of Turkey in 1920, and International Children’s Day was proclaimed in 1925 during the World Conference on Child Welfare. It’s celebrated at different times around the world with Mexico setting Dia de los Ninos on April 30.
