A Summer Solstice party to celebrate the new Warm Springs Preserve will be held from 2 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at the preserve.
There’ll be live music from Hogan & Moss, the Pisten Bullys, Powell Brothers and Grateful.
There’ll be games and activities for all ages and an array of silent auction items to raise money for the upkeep of the preserve. Auction items include a day of sailing in San Francisco Bay provided by the Commodore of the Beach Yacht Club, a 2022/23 Sun Valley season ski pass, a getaway at the Limelight hotel, life-sized dog sculptures painted by local artists and kid’s stuff.
There will be food and drink available for purchase by La Parilla, Smokey Bone, Tater Trailer, KB’s, Wood River Sustainability Center, Sun Valley Snow Shave & Pizza, Kona Ice, Sun Valley Brewing Company, Roadbars and Sawtooth Brewery.
The Wood River Land Trust will be on hand to offer information about restoration plans for Warm Springs Creek. And Catherine Slaughter, the new astronomer-in-residence for the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve, will share information about the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve—the nation’s one and only. Ketchum Mayor Neil Bradshaw is expected to offer a few words in the vicinity of 6 p.m.
There is no parking at the preserve except for handicapped access. A free shuttle bus for picnickers and pups will be available from the Wood River YMCA or the Greyhawk ski parking lots.
