Tamara Rowe will offer a free dog training presentation explaining how to engage dogs’ minds and bodies with games and tricks at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at Hailey Town Center West near the Hailey Public Library.
Joining Rowe in the Fun with Fido presentation will be her four-legged pals Rosie and Rupert.
A toy exchange table will be available for those wishing to swap toys. Attendees are asked to leave dogs at home.
Rowe operates Rosy Rover Training. She has been training dogs since adopting her first rescue 30 years ago and in 2018 began specifically utilizing Positive Reinforcement training methods.
She learned science-based, force-free training methods at the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior, which was founded by a dolphin trainer who applied behavioral science to animal training. Prior wrote the book “Don’t Shoot the Dog: The New Art of Teaching and Training.”
Rowe is also a certified Fear-Free professional trainer and a Puppy Start Right for Instructors graduate. And she is a member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants.
“Tamara is a force-free trainer with the highest credentials and we want to share her talents with our dog-loving community,” said Kristin Fletcher, who organized the presentation on behalf of the Hailey Public Library. “Many of us know how necessary it is to meet our dog’s mental, physical and emotional need to the best of our abilities. Surprisingly, one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways is learning how to have fun with them.”
