Many young people want to go to Disneyland.
Shelby Huff is different. Her wish involves the Wood River Valley’s Trailing of the Sheep Festival.
Huff, 20, will be coming to the Trailing of the Sheep Festival Oct. 5 through 9 on behalf of Make-A-Wish Idaho in partnership with the Trailing of the Sheep Festival.
Huff became eligible to receive a wish due to complications with aplastic anemia, a bone marrow failure disease. She requested this particular wish because she loves the outdoors and animals, especially sheep.
Shelby will travel to Idaho with her mother, sister and grandparents and is eager to learn about sheepherding and experience the Idaho landscape.
She will be welcomed at Festival Headquarters at the nexStage Theatre from 1:15 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6. And she will attend various events as a VIP guest.
Among the events Huff will attend: The Folklife Fair, For Love of Lamb Foodie Fest, Sheepdog Trials, Sheepherder’s Ball, Sheep Tales Gathering and the Wool Fest fiber arts classes, for which instructors Patricia Hirsh-Lirk and Joan Contraman are donating a spot in class.
Shelby will finish her adventure with the Trailing of the Sheep Parade in Ketchum on Sunday, Oct. 9.
