Goodness from The Giving Garden

Friday, October 2, 2020

When the coronavirus pandemic hit, Dick and Melinda Springs decided to tackle one of Dick’s lifelong dreams—to grow a garden. They enlisted the help of Mardi Shepard and Peggy Grove to clear away a corner of their farm on a tributary of Silver Creek.

By mid-summer they were growing hundreds of pounds of cabbages, broccoli and other vegetables, which they gave to The Senior Connection to use in its Meals on Wheels program. Marie Gallo takes you to The Giving Garden as Melinda and Mardi pluck a handful of juicy ripe tomatoes and other veggies to fashion a tasty Caprese and a Zucchini Carpaccio.
