The 2023 Ernest Hemingway Seminar will focus on “Fathers & Sons.”

The event will be held Thursday, Sept. 7, through Saturday, Sept. 9, and will include both an in-person and virtual component.

This year’s seminar will look at Hemingway as a father and son. It will also dissect six of his short stories that focus on father-son relationships: “Indian Camp,” “The Doctor and the Doctor’s Wife,” “Ten Indians,” “My Old Man,” “Fathers and Sons” and “An African Story.”

It will kick off at 1 p.m. with an optional Pre-Seminar Writing Workshop.

Then it gets underway for good with an Opening Reception at 5 p.m. and Opening Keynote by Sherman Alexie, poet, writer, filmmaker and winner of the PENFaulkner and National Book Awards. Alexie will focus on “Two Indians: My Father and I Imagine Hemingway.”
