Fiddler Scott Knickerbocker and friends will provide the old-timey mountain music and Ava Honey will call the dance steps as the Upper Big Wood River Grange hosts a Square Dance this week.
The dance will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 19, at the Hailey Grange Hall at 609 South 3rd Avenue, just up the street from The Senior Connection.
Those wishing to brush up on basic step instructions should come at 6:30 p.m.
Scott Knickerbocker, a literature and writing professor at the College of Idaho, writes original songs and he enjoys “digging in the rich soil of old, weird America” to find whimsical country blues finger-picked on guitar, haunting ballads frailed on banjo and spirited old-time dance tunes played on fiddle.
Tickets are $20 for one adult or $30 for two, $5 for teens and free for youth 12 and under accompanied by an adult. No dance experience is necessary, and partners are not necessary.
Dancers should wear clean indoor shoes for dancing to protect the dance floor.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at paypal.me/grange192 or at www.grange.org/upperbigwoodriverid192/events.
DON’T FORGET:
The Winter Farmers Market at the Grange continues its run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through April 27.
