Wood River Valley residents are invited to learn about the Baldy Mountain House project in Warm Springs on Wednesday, April 17.
The informational session will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at the Hot Water Inn at 100 Picabo St.
The presentation will include architectural renderings of the proposal, plus an opportunity for feedback. Complimentary beverages and appetizers will be served.
Developers envision developing the Baldy Mountain House on 40,000 square feet—half of it on the former Baldy Base Camp site and the other half at 100 Picabo, which formerly housed a Sun Valley Community School dorm and the Hot Water inn.
It would be the first mixed use condominium/commercial project built in Warm Springs Village since 1987.
It seeks to reinvigorate the area that was known as the local’s side of Bald Mountain in the 1970s and ‘80s. That’s when it took two double chairlifts—the Warm Springs and Limelight lifts—more than 30 minutes to reach the top of the mountain.
As a result, skiers skied all day long, then stayed around to enjoy the Vuarnettes music and comedian Joe Cannon at The Creekside and quaff beers at Apple’s and Barsotti’s.
The Baldy Mountain House would be a condominium development lodge providing hybrid housing for short-term tourists and remote workers, as well as long-term local workforce renters.
