100 Men Who Care will enjoy a night on the town this week after they take care of philanthropic details.

The loose knit group will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 10 (not Tuesday, as they typically do) at The Liberty Theater in Hailey to consider making donations to three groups.

The meeting is expected to wrap up at 5:50 p.m., giving participants a chance to walk to the nearby Roots Wine Bar for drinks and snacks. Those who wish will then return to the Liberty Theater at 7 p.m. to enjoy The Liberty Theatre company’s production of “Boeing Boeing,” a comedy about a bachelor who is trying to juggle three stewardesses in his love life.

Spouses are included.

Those who are unable to attend the meeting may mail checks for $100 to Marty Lyon, 106 Red Cloud Way, Hailey, ID 83333.

100 Men Who Care are considering three nonprofits this month:

The Wood River Fire and Rescue Firefighters Association, which provides funding for training and equipment for Wood River Fire and Rescue.

Be Good Foundation, which was started by national mountain bike champion Rebecca Rusch to provide scholarships to individuals from underrepresented communities such as women, youth, para cyclists, military members and members of the LGTBQ so they can experience the power of bikes. This year the Foundation launched a local RPI Girls Mentorship Scholarship Program for girls 12 to 18 to encourage them to ride in Rebecca’s Private Idaho gravel ride up Trail Creek Summit alongside another experienced female mentor.  The program includes registration, educational webinars, local group rides and nutrition and gear support.

The Space, an afterschool program that helps Wood River Valley teens succeed in school and prepare for their future. Last year the program supported 220 students with 70 percent receiving full or partial financial assistance.

100 Men Who Care meets four times a year to learn about nonprofits in the valley and make donations of $100 or more per person.

During its April get-together the men made a $7,783 donation to the Blaine County Education Foundation’s Students in Need program. BCEF provides school-specific supplies, activities and fees that allow students to participate in educational activities and events with other students.

100 Men Who Care also donated $3,733 to The Community Library and $3,133 to the American Legion in Ketchum at that meeting.

Participants have contributed nearly a half-million dollars to non-profits in the valley since the organization’s first meeting in February 2013.
