STORY AND PHOTO BY KAREN BOSSICK

The 26th annual Ketchum Arts Festival will feature the work of nearly 150 artists from throughout Idaho this weekend at Sun valley Festival Meadows on Sun Valley Road.

Expect to see the nature-inspired geometric art of Eagle’s Jacquie Daly, the Snake River Nets of Idaho Falls’ Mike Avery, the multimedia surrealistic art of Hailey’s Evelin Garcia and the block-printed clothing of Sun Valley’s Karine Kashen.

They’ll be joined by festival veterans, such as plein-air painters Pam Street, Jineen Griffith, Karen Jacobsen and Deanna Schrell, as well as local makers of fine jewelry such as Lisa Horton, Marcia Dibbs and Caitlin Cooper.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 12-13, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The Kids’ Activity tent will offer painting, bubbles, bracelet stringing and free activities for kids to do from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Sun Valley Brewing Company, La Parrilla, Wood Fire Pizza and Grill, Maui Wowi and Totally Nutz will have coffees and smoothies, gourmet glazed nuts and other bites for sale.

Well-mannered dogs are welcome provided they’re on leash.

Lisa Horton called the festival a must-do tradition for locals and visitors: “You’ll see all your friends and make some new ones as you wander the grassy aisles.”

Parking is limited, but the meadows are an easy stroll from Ketchum and Sun Valley on the bike path. The free Blue Route bus stops just east of the Festival grounds on Sun Valley Road.
