Hailey Police Chief Steve England is hoping to be pressed into service Tuesday as the honorary dropper in the Hailey Public Library’s second annual Egg Drop Challenge.

The event will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, on the library patio.

Kids are building protective contraptions with upcycled items, such as bubble wrap, stuffing and cardboard as part of a STREAM (Science Technology Reading Engineering Math) activity offered to youngsters by the library during summer.

The City of Hailey is loaning its Bucket Truck to drop the eggs from a tall height. The goal is to see whose contraption protects the eggs from splattering.

“It should be fun for those who would like to join in the festivities,” said Lee Dabney, youth librarian. “And the Bloom Truck will be on site from 1 to 2 p.m. offering lunches for $1.”
